Mark Lowy Appointed Assistant Pitching Coach for Phillies



PHILADELPHIA The Phillies quickly filled the void left by Brian Kaplans departure, announcing the hiring of Mark Lowy as the new assistant pitching coach on Wednesday. Kaplan had spent the past three seasons with the team as the assistant pitching coach and pitching development director before accepting an offer to become the pitching coach for the Diamondbacks, as announced on Tuesday.

Lowy, 32, has been with the Phillies organization for four years. This past season, he served as the teams lead pitching development analyst. He initially joined the Phillies in 2021 as an integrative baseball performance associate in player development. A native of Ridgewood, N. J. , Lowy played college baseball at Gettysburg College  . Prior to joining the Phillies, he worked at Cressey Sports Performance in Florida as an associate pitching coordinator. This facility, co-founded by Kaplan, is renowned for its training programs, particularly for professional baseball players, including top pitchers like Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, and Corey Kluber, as well as top Phillies prospect Andrew Painter.
