After Saudi Arabia lifted the ban on females travelling with a mahram, yes, women can travel in Ramadan all by themselves if they are reached on their legal age 18+

Though Saudi Arabia has removed the necessity of a mahram, traditional laws still believe in the need for a Mahram is applied and followed by many families.

Age Requirement for Solo Female Pilgrims

Around 18 women:

For individuals and solo females, Saudi Arabia has introduced certain conditions. Though the ban has been removed but female pilgrims can travel alone with certain conditions. Females under 18 need to be accompanied by a male guardian/ Mahram.

Under 40:

Women under 45 years of age need to travel with an authentic travel agency and a group of pilgrims. This rule applies in Ramadan as well.
The shift and change in laws made women able to plan their pilgrimage with confidence.

Traveling with a Group

Though after the change in laws, women can travel alone, it is recommended and wise to join a reliable and trusted travel agency or group to travel, especially in Ramadan.  The crowd in Makkah and Madina has doubled during Ramadan, so it is best to travel with a reliable Ramadan Umrah provider to manage all transport cases, travel itinerary structuring, and look into other additional services and collective support. The group leaders and operators are handled by women leaders and guides to give extra comfort and an organized pilgrimage experience.

Safety and Comfort

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia gives extra care and focus to safety and comfort towards women, especially when traveling alone. Traveling alone during Ramadan may result in facing challenges because of overcrowding and intense fasting situations. With group travel, they can make sure of safety and comfort of navigating unfamiliar places, especially in crowded areas, busy prayer times, transportation, and long waits. Many female pilgrims prefer group travel and group arrangements, fearing the feeling of isolation and feeling overwhelmed while performing the Umrah rituals, especially if this is their first Umrah.

Accommodation

Hotels in Makkah and Madina fill up quickly during the peak season of Ramadan. It is recommended to book your accommodations early to get in at better prices. Typically, booking early secures you a spot, saves you from emergency cancellations, and last-minute unexpected delays. Specifically, women need to book their accommodations close to Haram to get easy access during prayer times, especially in Traweeh and Qiyam ul Lail.

Prayer and Spiritual Guidance

Ramadan is a spiritually enriched time, and having access to spiritual guidance and a prayer schedule enhances the essence of Umrah. Ramadan Umrah visa provides women-only groups, accompanied by female leaders and guides to assist and give guidance regarding offering rituals, prayers, and etiquette. Moreover, guided assistance makes the pilgrimage more knowledgeable and memorable.

Visa Requirements

Women traveling for Umrah during Ramadan must follow the visa processing requirements. The requirements are the same as for any other pilgrim. It is important to keep in mind that the visa regulations may vary, but the requirements are the same. Females can obtain an Umrah visa via a trusted and licensed travel agency with standard and customized Umrah packages.

Travel Considerations During Ramadan

Ramadan pilgrimage, especially for women traveling alone, requires extra planning and care. The month’s fasting schedule, large crowds, longer waits, and higher prices are demanding. Pilgrims book their hotel, accommodations, flights, and other services months before Ramadan as prices become higher during the Month. Women should prepare physically and mentally, and book their services early to secure their spot close to Haram. Select the Travel agency that offers customized Umrah packages with all necessary factors such as visa processing, flights, accommodations, and meals. Personalized packages let you focus more on worship than worrying about travel logistics.
